A brand new opportunity has arisen for an experienced public affairs and communications expert to join a large educational institution in Leeds! Reporting into the Head of Communications and with direct responsibility for two communications officers, the ideal candidate will have a strong experience in PR, a passion for politics and current affairs, and impeccable communications skills.
Main duties:
- Develop and deliver a public affairs strategy to ensure that our voice (and that of the education sector) is strengthened with key decision makers
- Monitor parliamentary activity and identify opportunities to engage on relevant policy matters that affect education
- Craft written content for consultation responses, briefings, letters and press releases
- Have regular contact with key external stakeholders and keep abreast of the media landscape to provide internal forecasts to the communications department.
- Ensure that senior members of the group are briefed on key parliamentary and government developments
