Graduate Software Developers MUST BE MANCHESTER BASED OR COMMUTABLE POST PANDEMIC

I'm looking to speak to Graduate software developers with a genuine and demonstrable passion for coding seeking their first step into professional software development. This role offers you a fantastic opportunity to work for a Manchester tech business that has been established over 12 years. You'll be working alongside a seriously bright team of developers who typically come from a Computer Science, mathematics or physics background.

About You

Many job specifications talk about 'a passion' for software development, but it's essential for this role. Ideally, you'll have been coding since your teens and will have numerous personal projects to talk about at interview. Most of the developers currently employed had a large body of work / code repo to showcase at interview.

**To be considered for this role you'll have a number of non academic personal projects to talk about at interview.

The Business

The company is born out of a more established tech business based in The Northern Quarter Manchester and has experienced rapid success since forming in 2017 (£20m revenue booked in its first year!). Since COVID-19 the full development team has been working remotely and due to the success of this trial, they have made the decision that the business will operate MOSTLY remotely and have given up most of their office space. However, they are keen to make sure there is still a team ethos and are planning 2 weekly socials and yearly holidays. For this reason this role would be better suited to someone who can easily commute to Manchester.

This is a start-up environment that is fast-paced and constantly changing, so graduate software developers contributions to the project and technology development will be crucial to the success of this business. An interest in serverless technology, fintech, AI and big data would be good, but not essential. This business is committed to training and developing graduate developers with an individual budget set aside for each member of staff to attend courses, seminars and hackathons relevant to your job. Added to this the CEO has a track record of mentoring developers to get them to a high standard quickly.

Tech Stack

So, what do graduate software developers need to be successful? A genuine passion for coding and technology regardless of which language you code in. The CTO of the business has the philosophy that 'good code is good code in any language' so he's not concerned about your background as long as you share his and the other junior developer's passion for code. However, any experience in any of the following languages will be an advantage:

· PHP

· Java

· Python

· C#

· NodeJS

· JavaScript

The first stage of this interview will be an informal video chat that typically takes place early in the morning (before the working day)

The hiring process takes 5 days and will include

· 1st informal interview over breakfast at a Manchester cafe

· A technical task taken in your own time over 48 hrs

· A final interview / meet the team.

Starting Salary is £20,000- £21,000 but will increase rapidly dependent on performance. For example one developer I placed was earning nearly £40,000 after 18 months. I've also had developers receive a 25% pay rise after 4 months.

If you are a graduate software developer this is a great business to be joining if you really want to fast track your career in software development.
