The Role

As the Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for the effective management of inventory and assets within the supply chain to ensure that agreed processes, stock control and product quality standards are maintained at the Griffin Brewery.

Key Accountabilities

The Inventory Controller is responsible for the following key outputs and accountabilities:

General

  • Responsible for ensuring that beer stock in the Griffin Brewery warehouse is represented accurately in the SAP system by:
    • Monitoring EDI messages between systems and fixing failures
    • Managing the daily stock reconciliation process between systems, resolving any discrepancies as they arise
  • Conduct daily stock reviews to identify any out of rotation picks and ensure stock life balanced are managed querying malpractice with line manager where necessary
  • Attend the weekly Stock Freshness meeting as the inventory subject matter expert and ensure that the necessary action is taken to manage aged and aging stock to minimise stock write-offs
  • Ensure the stock has the appropriate statues and that this is visible to the wider Supply Chain team. Make decisions to block stock that is no longer sellable
  • Responsible for ensuring that damaged stock is promptly reworked to maximise stock availability
  • Lead the bi-annual Stock Counts in conjunction with external auditors. Fully investigate and report discrepancies, ensuring that system adjustments are made retrospectively and that findings are reported to finance business partners

Brewery Inventory

  • Drive routine stock counts across the warehouse and manufacturing site, flagging discrepancies to warehouse & production teams where necessary
  • Ensure that internal stock movements are accurately shipped and receipted in the WMS system, investigating any miss picks
  • Ensure that FIFO stock rotation is maintained and that correct batched are picked by warehouse teams
  • Ensure that stock is distributed across the network to maximise stock availability and delivery fulfilment, requesting stock transfer orders where appropriate
  • Lead monthly cycle counts in conjunction with warehouse teams; each SKU stored to be counted & date checked, with any anomalies to be fully investigated and corrected to realign recorded inventory. Any discrepancies found to be reported directly to key stakeholders
  • Work with the Supply Chain Teams to ensure optimal utilization of space at Griffin Brewery for all SKUs
  • Work with the distribution teams to ensure stock returns are being processed correctly. Identify a returns area that drivers and dray physically locate returned stock to
  • Assist the quality assurance team with providing lab samples and putting quarantined stock on hold
  • Implement monthly analysis, reporting and reviews of what is deemed as 'slow moving or non-moving' SKUs. Make recommendations on SKUs de-list
  • Assist with batch traces & product recalls
  • Manage the ullage process, ensuring all HMRC guidelines are met, documented and that kegs are weighed prior destroying. Ensure 100% compliance for audit purposes

Warehouse & Cellar Services

  • Ensure damaged stock is promptly reworked to support stock availability and to reduce stock losses
  • Proactively flag aged & aging stock to key internal stakeholders to facilitate sales and mitigate stock losses
  • Coordinate the prompt destruction of expired stock, inline with HMRC requirements, to create warehouse space & to support with empty keg supply
  • Support with the recovery of excise duty drawback by liaising with warehouse and tax stakeholders, providing commercial documentation where necessary
  • Track and monitor stock write off KPIs
  • Monitor stock loss KPIs, reclaiming costs based on stock loss tolerance
  • Analyse and report monthly destruction costs

The Person

  • Relevant supply chain experience, preferably in FMCG or drinks industry
  • Strong experience in Stock Management at site level
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Proven track record of delivering stock accuracy improvements and efficiencies in the beer or similar FMCG business
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Influencing skills and strong team engagement and stakeholder management experience
  • Customer or supplier relationship management exposure
  • Experience in a fast paced, high volume, detailed and process driven organisation
  • System experience in an ERP environment - SAP experience essential
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of Stock Management Best Practices and implementing these within an organisation
  • Relevant Logistical or Supply Chain qualifications or equivalent - essential
  • Experience of analysis of trends and making recommendations from these trends
