Better Placed are working with a long-established provider in the Further Education sector, who deliver apprenticeship and trainee-ship funded programmes and a portfolio of commercial training courses largely in leadership and management development, IT and soft skills. The training provider, based in Newcastle, are seeking a Head of Sales to lead a growing team of sales, marketing and recruitment professionals.

The Head of Sales at will proactively and effectively lead the sales, and PR communications for the entire company, driving performance and growth with responsibility for implementation of the marketing strategy and achievement of sales plans.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and manage sales forecasting activities, targets, sectors, markets, territories and set performance goals to achieve company objectives
  • Prepare and present sales reports detailing sales, potential sales and areas of proposed client-based expansion
  • Review and analyse sales performance against plans to determine effectiveness
  • Monitor, prepare and report on marketing communications and sales activity
  • Manage and give direction to the sales and marketing departments/teams
  • Coordinate sales and marketing campaigns and initiatives to achieve business objectives
  • Direct a team of 7 staff, with training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programmes
  • Support direct reports with coaching and mentoring activity for personal development, achievement of strategic objectives and continuous improvement
  • Meet with key clients to ensure relationships are maintained and developed
  • Identify and understand client's business needs and objectives to develop marketing and sales campaigns
  • Develop and manage sales/marketing budgets
  • Oversight of the marketing strategy
  • Plan, implement and manage marketing and lead generation campaigns and measure results
  • Develop and maintain a consistent corporate image and ensure that the brand is well communicated across all channels
  • Ensure company websites and blog are kept up to date

Required knowledge, skills and experience

  • 3+ years of experience in sales, marketing and management, preferably in the education sector or related field
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • A track record of success in converting client leads into customers
  • Ability to build trust, value others, communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Experience of managing a budget
