Better Placed are delighted to be exclusively partnering with East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) as they look to hire a Marketing Director who will work across the four main sites (East Midlands Conference centre, Orchard Hotel, Jubilee Conference Centre and Nottingham Conferences).

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for delivering creative and strategic marketing activity, driving the EMCC brand presence in key markets, and increasing their direct revenue through support of their direct channels and sales functions. This is a brand new blank canvas role so a key priority will be to review their current Brand recognition and awareness within their key markets and the development of marketing strategy that will deliver their business objectives in the coming years.

The different properties:

Set within 330 acres of the University of Nottingham's landscaped parkland, De Vere Orchard Hotel is a stylish, award winning, eco-friendly hotel boasting 202 bedrooms, a variety of meeting rooms, brasserie restaurant, bar and terrace.

East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC), which recently underwent a £2 million refurbishment, is a purpose-built conference centre beside the Orchard Hotel, providing facilities for events with between 10 and 1000 delegates.

Just five minutes from EMCC, De Vere Jubilee Conference Centre offers an innovative, lakeside setting for events, along with all the comforts of a modern 100 bedroom hotel.

Nottingham Conferences caters for conference, meetings and events across a series of outstanding facilities, delivering unforgettable events and specialising in sports training - most recently hosting two British Olympic and Paralympic teams.

The role:

You will report directly to the General Manager as the Marketing lead for EMCC Ltd.

You will ensure EMCC Ltd has brand presence in all their key markets in order to allow them to increase their commercial income. You will focus specifically on driving incremental direct revenue via their direct channels and supporting the sales function. Your creative and strategic marketing leadership will support the company in achieving its goals, and motivate the team to live their Brand and company values.

You will take the main responsibility of the implementation of EMCC strategic marketing activity, overseeing the sales and marketing plan to support business objectives across the the four EMCC LTD sites (East Midlands Conference Centre, Orchard Hotel, Jubilee Conference Centre and Nottingham Conferences).

Working closely with their Director of Sales, Sales Executive and Group Marketing department (De Vere) and University of Nottingham, you will ensure their values and brand guidelines are adhered to at all times.

Their marketing activity is focused on driving commercial growth on the EMCC sites, underpinned by the implementation of a new digital platform.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Overseeing and developing key marketing campaigns to support business objectives and sales plans.
  • Managing and maintaining the brand website(s) and content creation.
  • Driving promotional activities on and off line.
  • Producing and maintaining a GDPR compliant email tool and content calendar.
  • Driving and implementing trade and consumer PR opportunities.
  • Writing and proofreading creative copy for PR and marketing collateral, including print management.
  • Delivering and managing marketing campaigns on social media.
  • Driving direct revenue from digital media including PPC.
  • Managing digital assets and organising photoshoots and video to brand standards.
  • Maintaining company websites and external business listing and reporting monthly on data analytics and opportunities for the business.
  • Coordinating and delivering internal marketing campaigns.
  • Devising and presenting ideas and strategies to support the business and sales plans.

The ideal Candidate:

  • Should have a substantial previous experience at senior level in marketing
  • Must have experience within Hospitality / Retail / Leisure / Travel sectors
  • Experience with the creative side of marketing and design
  • Proven track record of developing and executing marketing campaigns with attractive ROI
  • Previous experience of use of technology implementation and management to support marketing activity
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Identifies priorities effectively, balancing importance, urgency and resources.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or equivalent qualification and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Diploma or equivalent are essential
