My client is an established, US based retail finance brand, who are now looking to set up in the UK. Their proposition is largely targeted at SMEs and sole traders – and they’ve noticed a gap in the British market. In their 5 years since launching in the US, they’ve signed up 10,000 merchants across 47 states – and they’re now looking to continue their ambitious growth plans overseas.
Reporting directly in to the UK MD, this role will carry full ownership of their acquisition of new merchants. You’ll have responsibility for setting the strategy, beginning to sign partners up, and then recruiting a sales team beneath you.
This is a rare opportunity, and a great one for the right person – it’s a unique chance to play a lead part in an organisation at nucleus stage, but one with a strong foundation of investment, infrastructure, and a proven business model. As a result, there is massive potential for growth and development, both for the organisation and the successful incumbent.
It would be highly advantageous for someone to have spent time in / around the personal finance space – so retail, retail finance, payments, cards etc. You’ll need to demonstrate a track record of building successful sales teams and, as you would expect, there is a certain degree of tenacity, hunger, and a willingness to ‘roll the sleeves up’ that will make the right person a success at this early stage in the business’ lifecycle.
